The art of Aromatherapy is rooted in the most ancient healing practices, dating back many thousands of years when early people first discovered that plants had medicinal properties.

You may not realise it but Aromatherapy is probably already very much a part of your life. Consider the smell of freshly brewed coffee and newly baked bread, bracing sea air or freshly mown grass, each one of these aromas will evoke a sense of well-being. The essential oils used in Aromatherapy take this sense of well-being a step further, the aroma will influence your psyche and help with emotional upsets such as depression, anxiety, nervous tension, anger, fear and grief. Physically the oils will stimulate the body's natural immune system, induce a feeling of deep relaxation, improve your skin and restore balance in the body. In simple terms, Aromatherapy works by influencing the body, mind and spirit all at the same time.

Essential oils can be used in a variety of ways: in the bath, in burners, as compresses or as room freshners. The most usual method is to dilute the essential oils in a 'carrier oil' and massage the body. this method of use combines the benefits of essential oils with the healing power of touch.

Aromatherapy Massage Treatment.

On the first visit a consultation will be carried out to determine your health and lifestyle. This information is treated in the strictest confidence.

You will be asked to undress (to respect your modesty and comfort I will leave the room) and to lie on a treatment couch under a large towel or blanket. During the aromatherapy massage I will only expose the parts of your body which I am massaging, other areas will remain covered. When the aromatherapy massage is over I will leave the room to allow you time to replace clothing.

During the massage I use a carrier oil to lubricate the skin. Care is taken during the consultation process to acknowledge any allergies to nuts and/or wheat and the carrier oil is chosen with this in mind. Essential oils will be added to this carrier oil, these are specifically chosen for each individual client and take into account both their physical and emotional needs.
